Ahmedabad, April 15 (Commodities Control): Peanut prices in Gujarat markets held steady today as weak demand and slowing arrivals created a subdued trading environment. The ongoing softness in the groundnut oil market continues to influence peanut prices. Arrivals of fresh peanuts have tapered off with the harvesting season approaching. Rajkot mandi reported no new arrivals, while Gondal saw limited activity. Traders anticipate the market to remain quiet unless buying interest picks up. Export demand for Danabar quality peanuts is currently absent. Loose groundnut oil is trading in the range of Rs 1425-1450 per 10 kg.

The outlook for the summer peanut crop is positive. New peanut arrivals from the Dahod region are expected within the next two weeks, with Vyara arrivals likely to begin in May. This, coupled with a smaller expected crop in the Halvad region, suggests that prices are unlikely to rise significantly in the near term.

Gondal mandi reported arrivals of approximately 15,260 bags (35kg/bag) today. Average quality peanuts traded at Rs 1171-1315 per 20 kg, while best quality traded at Rs 1211-1326 per 20 kg. In Rajkot mandi, 18,000 bags were pending, of which 8,000-10,000 were traded. Average quality prices were Rs 1130-1237 per 20 kg, and best quality prices were Rs 1110-1348 per 20 kg. Total arrivals in Saurashtra were around 25,000 bags.
