Mumbai, 01 Apr 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Chana bilty prices in most major markets across North India in cluding Delhi market experienced a decline today, with Kanpur being a notable exception. Markets in Maharashtra reported stable prices. This market trend comes in the backdrop of a bank holiday, which saw significantly reduced trading activity. Additionally, widespread mandi closures contributed to the lower market activity.
Industry experts attribute this price movement to the final stages of the chana harvest. Approximately 80-90% of the harvest is complete. Favorable dry weather conditions in the key growing states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh have accelerated the harvest and improved the quality of the crop. With increased supply expected, prices in major markets are likely to face further downward pressure.
