Desi Masur: Prices in most markets held steady in mandi trade amid declining arrivals. Exceptions included Ashok Nagar, where prices saw a slight dip, and Kareli, where maximum prices saw a dramatic increase linked to higher quality arrivals.In bilty trade price declined in most of the markets due to slow demand.
Imported Masur: Imported masur prices have declined due to weak demand from processors. Market reports indicate decreased demand for masur dal following recent price increases.
Factors Affecting Prices:
Weather Forecasts: Predictions of an above-normal monsoon in India, potentially increasing acreage devoted to tur, have put downward pressure on masur prices.
Canadian Crop: Reports that lentil acreage in Canada is expected to increase by 15% in the upcoming season have added to this pressure.
Outlook:
The combination of ample domestic stock, forecasts of increased production both in India and Canada, coupled with slowing demand during summer, suggests that masur prices are likely to remain subdued in the near term.
