Mumbai, 26 Apr 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Indore, Madhya Pradesh – Kabuli chckpea prices have increased in Madhya Pradesh's major markets following a drop in arrivals. Sellers opting to hold back stock in response to initial price decreases has further buoyed both mandi and container prices.
Container prices saw an increase of ₹100-200 per quintal, with a greater increase noted for larger-sized chickpeas. Arrivals at the Indore mandi decreased to 3,200 bags, compared to 4,000 bags in the previous trading session. Total arrivals across Madhya Pradesh's Kabuli growing areas are estimated at 18,000-20,000 bags, further demonstrating a reduced supply.
While Kabuli prices have shown some recovery, traders indicate that stockists and exporters are showing weak demand, likely limiting further aggressive price increases. The overall market trend will heavily depend on export demand, which faces competition from Canada and Mexico due to their superior quality and competitive pricing.
Market sentiment suggests that prices are unlikely to rise significantly unless import demand improves.
