Mumbai, April 4 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom markets witnessed a blend of price movements as arrivals surged, reflecting contrasting dynamics across major trading centers. While prices dipped in one center, they saw an uptick in another, driven by robust domestic demand amidst recent sessions marked by increased price volatility and arrivals.
Reports indicate a mixed picture in cardamom prices across major markets, with fluctuations attributed to varying supply-demand dynamics. Despite the price volatility, domestic demand remained robust, lending support to market values.
The average price per kilogram increased from Rs 1,520-1,620 in the previous session to Rs 1,548-1,561, underscoring the market's resilience amid changing conditions. However, the maximum price per kilogram witnessed a slight decrease from Rs 2,732 to Rs 2,220.
Arrivals surged to 117,700 kg, marking a significant increase from 88,522 kg in the previous session. This uptick in arrivals contributed to a higher offtake, which was reported at 113,873 kg, representing a notable rise from the previous day and reaching 96.7%.
Grade-specific rates remained consistent, with prices for 7 mm grades ranging from Rs 1,560 to Rs 1,650 per kg, grades 7-8 mm priced between Rs 1,700 to Rs 1,740 per kg, and grades 8 mm and above commanding prices ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,140 per kg.
Meanwhile, large cardamom prices in major East and North East markets remained firm, with Chotadana prices witnessing an increase of Rs 30-80 per kg and Badadana prices rising by Rs 50-75 per kg since the last auction. Chotadana prices ranged between Rs 1,200 and 1,352 per kg, while Badadana prices varied from Rs 1,350 to 1,500 per kg.
