Ahmedabad, April 13 (CommoditiesControl): The coriander market in Gondal Mandi witnessed a notable increase in arrivals today, with 70,000 bags arriving the market. However, this surge in supply has led to a decline in prices due to lackluster demand.
Traders report that arrivals were halted for the past week, and with the arrival of 70,000 bags today, no further arrivals are expected until the existing stock is cleared. Consequently, the coriander arrivals in Gondal have been suspended from today onwards.
Today, in the face of subdued demand relative to the increased supply of coriander in the state, prices fell by Rs 15-20 per 20 kg.
Traders remain hopeful that the market may receive support if export trade picks up in the coming days following the conclusion of the Eid festival. However, local demand for coriander remains limited, with spice companies refraining from making significant purchases at this time.
In total, around 95,000 bags, each weighing 40 kg, of coriander arrived in the state today. Prior to this surge in arrivals, the average price of coriander remained stable at Rs 1,360-1,560 per 20 kg.
In Gondal Mandi, where 70,000 bags arrived today, prices ranged from Rs 1,551 to Rs 1,951 per bag. Meanwhile, in Rajkot Mandi, 4,500 bags arrived, with prices ranging from Rs 1,280 to Rs 1,811 per bag.
Additionally, there were 2,000 sacks in Halvad, 900 sacks in Jetpur, 2,800 sacks in Jamjodhpur, 2,200 sacks in Junagadh, 700 sacks in Amreli, 3,500 sacks in Jamnagar, 1,000 sacks in Dhangadhra, and an additional 5,000-7,000 sacks in other mandis.
