Mumbai, April 15 (Commoditiescontrol): Domestic pepper prices in major markets have seen another uptick, rising by Rs 1,700 per quintal. This increase marks a total surge of Rs 5,700-6,000 per quintal since the recent low.
Strong demand has been a key factor supporting pepper prices in the domestic market. Additionally, recent weeks have witnessed an uptick in export demand, fueled by a significant reduction in the trade deficit between India and other countries.
In Cochin, garbled pepper is priced at Rs 57,700 per quintal, while ungarbled pepper stands at Rs 55,700 per quintal. Meanwhile, pepper prices in Karnataka range from Rs 55,500 to Rs 58,000 per quintal.
On the other hand, Vietnamese pepper prices continue to trade at lower levels, declining by VND 1,500-2,000 per kg and trading in the range of VND 89,000 to 90,000 per kg compared to the previous session. Prices are anticipated to remain under pressure as arrivals reach their peak. Global Free On Board (FOB) prices remain stable across all major origins.
