Mumbai, April 30 (Commodities Control): Chilli prices in major markets exhibited a mixed trend, with declines noted in Warangal and certain varieties in Guntur. The arrival of inferior quality produce led to price drops specifically in the 2043 and Syngenta varieties in the Guntur market. Meanwhile, Khammam remained closed due to summer conditions, but an alternative day opening is anticipated.
Arrivals at the Guntur markets totaled 70,000 bags, marking a decrease of 15,000 from the previous session. Similarly, in Warangal, arrivals were reported at 20,000 bags, down 5,000 from the preceding session.
Constrained domestic demand coupled with stagnant export demand has imposed price caps on the market. Despite witnessing a sharp drop from multi-year lows, prices are expected to remain stable or even firm in the forthcoming sessions.
