New Delhi, March 5 (Commoditiescontrol): Maize prices continued to trade steady to firm across major centers, supported by improved buying and declining kharif arrivals.
In Maharashtra, maize prices in the Jalgaon and Dhule regions increased by INR 10 per quintal, reaching INR 2360-2400 per quintal. In Ahmedabad, prices rose by INR 40 per quintal over the last four days, settling at INR 2450 per quintal.
Karnataka and Tamil Nadu witnessed almost steady maize prices at INR 2350 per quintal.
Chhindwara mandi prices traded up by INR 30 per quintal at INR 2250-2300 per quintal, while ex-warehouse prices remained steady at INR 2330-2350 per quintal. With arrivals drying up and active buyer participation, maize prices are expected to rise further in the near term.
In Gulabbagh, prices were quoted steady at INR 2400-2460 per quintal, reflecting a significant increase of INR 130 per quintal in the last 12-14 days.
While some stockists observed improved selling, signaling a pause in the continuous uptrend, future maize prices will depend on weather conditions. Any delay in the new crop due to unfavorable weather could lead to further price increases. Conversely, stable weather conditions may make a sharp rise in maize prices challenging from current levels.
