Mumbai, 06 Mar 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Maize prices remained largely firm across major Indian centers today, supported by strong buying activity and reduced kharif arrivals.
In Maharashtra, prices slightly eased in the Jalgaon and Dhule regions, declining by INR 20 per quintal to INR 2340-2380. This follows a three-day price increase as stockists released inventory. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu prices remained stable at INR 2350 per quintal.
Chhindwara mandi prices inched up by INR 10 per quintal, trading at INR 2260-2300, while ex-warehouse prices held steady at INR 2330-2350. With arrivals slowing and demand still present, further price increases are anticipated in the near future.
Gulabbagh maize prices remained unchanged at INR 2400-2460 per quintal, marking a 12-14 day period of increases that pushed prices to their seasonal high.
While prices have risen significantly in the past two weeks, some stockists initiated selling activity, which could temporarily slow the upward price trend.
Weather patterns will be a major factor in future pricing. Delayed new crop harvests due to unfavorable conditions could further fuel price increases. However, stable weather conditions will likely make substantial price rises less likely.
