Mumbai, April 26 (Commoditiescontrol):In a major boost to farmers' income, the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) has successfully procured mustard seeds under the rabi operation at a Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 5450 per quintal. The procurement drive has been carried out through the Price Support Scheme (PSS) implemented by NAFED across the country.
As per the latest data released by NAFED, a total of 1,80,739 farmers have benefitted from the scheme, with a total quantity of 3,70,094.76 metric tonnes (MT) of mustard seeds being procured at the MSP of Rs 5450 per quintal. The total value of the procured mustard seeds stands at a whopping Rs 2017.02 crore.
The procurement drive has been carried out in Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Among these, Haryana has witnessed the highest procurement, with 29,179.55 MT of mustard seeds being procured at a value of Rs 1586.93 crore. Madhya Pradesh follows closely, with 38,328.77 MT of mustard seeds being procured at a value of Rs 208.89 crore. Gujarat has witnessed the procurement of 21,139.69 MT of mustard seeds at a value of Rs 115.21 crore, while Rajasthan has witnessed the procurement of 19,407.90 MT of mustard seeds at a value of Rs 105.77 crore.
