Mumbai, Aug 29 (Commoditiescontrol): The Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) has conducted an extensive crop health monitoring survey for soybean crops across several states from 20th-28th August, 2023. The findings have been presented below.

State wise crop health is as under:
Madhya Pradesh: The crop is between 45 to 60 days old and is progressing from pod formation to pod filling stage. The early sown crop, especially those of early maturity variety, is at the grain filling stage. Recent rains have benefited the crop, and pest control measures seem effective. However, there's a pressing need for immediate rains, especially in the western regions, to prevent moisture stress that could negatively impact the yields.
Maharashtra: Crops, 45 to 60 days old, are in the pod formation to pod filling stage. Early sown crops are at the grain filling stage. Despite the crops being in a satisfactory condition, they need immediate rains. A delay could spell disaster, notably in Marathwada, a significant soybean producing region.
Rajasthan: The soybean crop, aged between 45 to 60 days, is in the pod formation to pod filling stage. Immediate rains are crucial for maintaining the crop's health. Delays can severely affect crop yields.
Other states are also experiencing similar conditions, requiring immediate rainfall.
Conclusion:
August has witnessed a significant drop in rainfall. While crops have managed until now, they desperately need more rain. A delay can have severe implications on the overall soybean crop in the nation. The upcoming 45 days are crucial, and the actual yield will depend on the monsoon's performance. Predicting the overall crop health at this juncture would be premature.
