US soybean net sales for Dec 8-14 at 1,989,400 MT, up 84 percent W/W

NEW DELHI, Dec 21: US soybean net sales were at 1,989,400 metric tonnes (MT) for the week ended December 14 in the marketing year 2023/2024 starting September 1, up 84 percent from the previous week and 51 percent from the prior 4-week average.


US soybean net sales were at 1,084,000 MT for the week ended December 7.

Increases were primarily for unknown destinations (785,500 MT), China (700,400 MT, including 134,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 2,300 MT), Spain (191,000 MT, including 187,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 7,100 MT), Indonesia (75,800 MT, including 55,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), and the Netherlands (69,200 MT, including 65,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), were offset by reductions primarily for Costa Rica (2,000 MT).

Net sales of 144,000 MT for 2024/2025 were reported for unknown destinations (125,000 MT) and Japan (19,000 MT).

Exports of 1,329,100 MT were up 15 percent from the previous week, but down 3 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (572,100 MT), Spain (191,000 MT), Japan (130,500 MT), Mexico (110,800 MT), and Indonesia (78,900 MT).

Exports for Own Account: For 2023/2024, the current exports for own account outstanding balance of 2,100 MT are for Canada (1,400 MT) and Taiwan (700 MT).

Soybean Cake and Meal

Net sales of 147,800 MT for 2023/2024 were down 55 percent from the previous week and 16 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for Mexico (111,500 MT), Portugal (12,900 MT, including 12,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Sri Lanka (11,300 MT), the Philippines (9,300 MT, including decreases of 1,200 MT), and Guatemala (5,600 MT), were offset by reductions for Colombia (18,200 MT), unknown destinations (9,000 MT), Costa Rica (3,500 MT), Belgium (2,300 MT), and Ireland (300 MT). Exports of 258,800 MT were down 20 percent from the previous week and 17 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to the Philippines (59,700 MT), Canada (24,000 MT), Ireland (23,700 MT), Mexico (22,100 MT), and Costa Rica (16,600 MT).

Soybean Oil Total net sales of 3,100 MT for 2023/2024 were up noticeably from the previous week, but down noticeably from the prior 4-week average. The destination was Canada. Exports of 300 MT--a marketing-year low--were down 9 percent from the previous week and 59 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destination was primarily Canada (200 MT).
