Mumbai, 12 Sep (Commoditiescontrol) – Weather update for India cotton and Soybean
Cotton:
Much needed rains reported over major Cotton growing regions of Gujarat, South Rajasthan, and Telangana during the last week. These rains will prove beneficial for crop development as crop is in Boll development stage.
There were reports of moderate to heavy rains over Cotton growing regions Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan and rains reported currently with cloudy weather which is likely to impact the quality as well as yields. There are reports of boll and flower drop which is likely to impact the second picking as well. Harvesting is started in North Indian belt and with these rains harvesting pace is likely to hinder and is likely to impact the quality as well.
Crop is in boll development phase in other major growing states, forecast of rains is likely to prove beneficial for crop development and for better yields. Heavy rains are forecast over Gujarat need to watch the impact and quantum of rainfall over these regions in order to ascertain damage if any.
Soybean:
Moderate to heavy rains reported over major Soybean growing regions during last week these rains have not likely to have impacted the standing crops as rains activity is reported after dry weather for 10-12 days. However, moderate to heavy rains are forecast over major growing regions of Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan in coming week which may impact the standing crop and harvesting may get delayed in Malwa belt and Vidarbha regions. Need to watch closely of weather development over these regions for next fortnight.
Crop condition over Marathwada and Karnataka is reported to be good to excellent on congenial weather conditions. Harvesting is likely to start from last week of Sept and weather is expected to remain dry over these regions which is hinting for another good crop over these regions.
