MUMBAI, 1 Jul (Commoditiescontrol): India is expected to receive above-average rainfall in July, following a June that saw 11% below-average precipitation, according to the weather department on Monday. This forecast keeps hopes alive for higher agricultural output and economic growth in Asia's third-largest economy.
The monsoon has now covered nearly all parts of the country and is expected to reach the remaining areas of Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab within the next two to three days, ahead of schedule, said IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.
In June, India experienced an 11% deficit in rainfall compared to the average, with all regions except the south receiving below-average rainfall after the monsoon lost momentum in mid-June.
