Burma Urad:
Price of Burma Urad FAQ new variety extended fall by Rs 150 at Rs 7,400/100Kg, in Mumbai, due to slack millers' trade, ongoing domestic arrivals and thin offtake in processed Urad despite less imported stock.
Similarly, Burma Urad FAQ/SQ varieties in Chennai traded lower by Rs 350-450 at Rs 7,400/100Kg and Rs 8,300, respectively.
Moreover, sentiments were dampened as Urad prices quoted lower in forward business at Chennai. Arrival of new Urad is likely to commence from next month at Dindigul / Thanjavur (Tamil Nadu) and Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh).
Supplies of new Urad crop have begun in Chandausi (Uttar Pradesh). As per local trader, crop is similar compared to last year and arrivals are likely to continue for 2-2.5 months.
As per Burma based local trader new Urad crop is likely to start from January. Carry over stock is around 1.5-2 Lakh tonnes.
Sentiments are still under pressure as Government has taken several steps towards cooling off the prices--by giving import quota, liquidating old procured stock and releasing buffer stock at subsidised rate to the states for retail sale.
DGFT allocated import quota of Urad for the current FY up to March 2021. As per the notification each eligible and verified importer shall be allowed to import 97 MTs approximately. Some millers and importers have started getting license from government. But, no buyers are interested in importing.
The government has entered a five-year MoU with Myanmar for imports of 2.5 lakh tonnes of urad.

Chana Kantewala (Indore):
Chana prices declined by Rs 100 at Rs 5,150-5,175/100Kg in Indore, on thin mill buying activity against aggressive reselling from stockiest of average quality despite declining stocks with NAFED.
Prices are weak on the back of lower demand in Besan and Chana dal. It has been falling since the announcement of tenders from FCI and NAFED for Chana sale.
However, both have not accepted any bids placed so far that has confused the market about the appropriate prices levels.
On the other hand, Tanzania-origin Chana, in Mumbai, was priced nearly unchanged at Rs 5,050-5,075/100Kg.
Similarly, Sudan and Russia-origin Kabuli Chickpea was also steady, each, at Rs 5,225-5,250 and Rs 5,125-5,150, respectively.
