New Delhi, 29 July (Commoditiescontrol) Indian consumers are likely to increase consuming more pulses for fulfilling their protein requirements as prices of chicken have gone through roof while pulses turned bearish after the govt slapped stock limits early this month, said an analyst on Thursday.
Over the past few weeks prices of chicken have skyrocketed in the country as poultry feed has become costlier and supply of chicken has also declined as several small poultry farmers have already left the business after they incurred heavy losses during the Covid-19 pandemic, said analyst.
Soybean meal is the chief source of protein for poultry bird but prices of soya DOC have shot up more than two and half times, therefore, feed costs more and the poultry farmers are suffering losses in the business.
The market analysts have to say that with rise in consumption demand for pulses, their prices are also expected to increase as there will be shortage of green vegetables in the coming days due to heavy rains and floods in several parts of the country.
